Selangor Land and Mines Office has never appointed agents to deal in real estate transactions in state

SHAH ALAM (Oct 6): The Selangor Land and Mines Office (PTGS) in a statement today said it has never appointed any individual as a real estate transaction agent in the state.

The announcement came after PTGS detected that there were fraudulent transaction attempts to deceive the public using the names of PTGS and the District and Land Offices (PDT) in Selangor to the extent of involving Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

"Their modus operandi is to disguise as someone appointed to deal with PTGS and any PDT and they also issue notices with forged signatures to sell properties.

"Some of them also made use of names of senior and top officials of PTGS and PDT who are still serving and have retired by giving false information and promises for land sales," according to the statement.

As such, PTGS informed that it has lodged police reports on the cases identified so that stern action can be taken and advised the public to take measures, such as ensuring the property existence through registration and plan details and online title search to avoid being cheated.

In addition, the public is also urged to check the conditions and restrictions on interest such as property ownership, caveats and collateral/mortgage, ensure that the representative produces a valid power of attorney and sale and purchase agreement and to engage a certified lawyer.
